Shasta College Field Trip
On Thurday, September 22, we took our high school students down to Redding to take a walking tour of Shasta College's campus and learn about their programs. It was an incredibly hot day, but the kids had a good time all the same. Especially interesting was the campus farm, which features a separate dorm where the agriculture program students live and work. Essentially, there are 7 students running a miniature working farm! They recycle campus water into the irrigation system, which grows feed stock for the animals, which they raise and sell to organizations like 4-H and FFA. Pretty cool!

Students visit the campus barn, where they learn some startling facts about livestock. The college has agriculture units on cows, goats, poultry, horticulture, irrigation, and pigs.
Students relax in the cool breeze of a gigantic swamp cooler inside the horticulture department's greenhouse.
Here our intrepid students brave the withering heat of a Redding sidewalk as they tour the campus.

Dave's Class Outlines - LP2
Technology!
We're all working to create a usable digital presence for our classes, so I'm putting a link to my classes here so parents can check on assignments.
It's on Google Docs, so you might need a gmail account to view them.
Let me know if you can get to them from this blog so I can keep refining my online class system!
Thanks,
Dave

New Year at Golden Eagle
This is my first post for the 2011-2012 school year. Welcome to Golden Eagle! Our year is off to a great start and we're heading into the last week of our first learning period. We began the year with some fun video projects about why kids came to our school. Now the regular classes are getting going and our electives day is packed with kids learning foreign languages, making art and music, acting, and generally having a great time learning new things.
